If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen a little project we did a few weeks ago. We all loved it so much we decided to do it again. Leaves are just perfect for fall decor (I know- its almost November!) but I like the color it adds to a dreary winter up ahead. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have much in common with my kids. They love to wrestle and do what boys do and I am not really a rough and tumble girl. I like to craft and just create stuff…hence the existence of this blog. As I have watched my kids, they, too love to create and my heart has leaped with joy. My kids have watched me, have joined me and now we enjoy crafting together. They do a lot on their own, too, but that is a different post all together. These kids are creative geniuses.
Get ready for lots of color and lots of fun. I loved watching how laissez-faire they were on some and then super detailed they were on other ones. Adelle’s marbled ones, Oliver’s abstract creations and Ashton’s attention to detail were awesome. Want to create a leaf banner for yourself? Good. Keep on reading.
What You Need:
Leaves (picked them outside)
Newspaper or something to cover table
Needle and Thread (for adults)
What to Do:
1. Prep your table and kids with smocks if using paint other than washable.
2. Give your kids creative freedom to paint whatever they’d like.
3. Let dry. (Ours dried within a couple of hours)
4. Adults: Stick needle through one side of the stem and come out the other. That helps the leaf face forward.
5. Hang. (I used sticky tack)
Our kids love seeing their creations on display and this is a perfect way to display them. It doubles as a fall craft and great for a colorful Thanksgiving banner. What fun crafts do you do with your kids?
