**These 6 easy costumes were put together using what my daughter already had in her closet. Is it sad that I, too, have these items in my closet?! I made the microphone, ax, and apron/skirt in 45 minutes total and making these are completely optional.**
I put this together for a couple of reasons. One is for all my procrastinator comrades. Although I do not recommend leaving your kids costumes until the last possible hour, I know we can get busy. I get it. Two: kids change their mind and if we have to accommodate them, these are easy fall back ideas. I should have thrown “ghost” in the mix because my son now wants to be a ghost and not Hiccup like we had originally planned.
1. The cutest lumberjack I have ever seen. We were going for Paul Bunyan. If there is a sibling they could go as the blue ox.
Essentials: Buffalo plaid or plaid flannel, jeans, long socks, boots, cap and maybe an ax.
2. La petite artiste. Could also be a mime if you throw some white face paint on.
Essentials: Beret, striped shirt, black pants, side ponytail and paintbrush for good measure.
3. Viking aka Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon. I may be biased but this girl is just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Look at that face.
Essentials: Fur vest, leggings and leather accessories. Weapons optional.
Essentials: Side pony, neon and denim.
Essentials: Top knot, little black dress, pearls and cute shoes.
6. Morton Salt Girl. This was easy seeing as we live in the rainiest part of the country.
Essentials: Umbrella and yellow outfit (dress, raincoat)
Hope these gave you some ideas that you could easily pull from your daughter’s (or your) closet. Happy Halloween!
