I am feeling nostalgic of summer vacationing back East. I miss the beaches, the history, the bagels! Anyway, we went on a New Jersey vacation in May to spend time with my husband’s family. My kids were spoiled with constant attention and entertainment!
Sunset Beach, Cape May, New Jersey: This beach is beautiful and this town is even more so. I am sad we weren’t about to tour more around the town and shops but we had so much fun collecting “diamonds” (quartz) on the beach. Can you believe in the 7 years we’ve been married and vacationing here, this was my first time?! My kids loved searching for diamonds amongst the tiny rocks on the beach.
Cape May County Zoo, New Jersey: This zoo is small and quaint- perfect for a nice stroll without the kids getting tired. And free but just give a nice donation! Can you tell they were excited? We missed the snakes but saw lions, tigers, monkeys, snow leopards, giraffes and they have a cute little petting zoo. The only bummer is they close so early in the summer. They say 4:45 but it was more like 4:15 they put the animals away.
Ocean City, New Jersey: We had a nice time playing basketball, tennis, on the swing set, jumping on the trampoline, playing with the chickens, swimming, riding quads, bike riding, hot tubbing, strolling on the boardwalk, eating pizza (Azzura Pizza in Sea Isle is AMAZING and so is Pizza Station in Marmora), devouring ice cream (Custard Hut!) and donuts (Frog Hollow’s are the best) and bagels (I miss you Hot Bagelz) and hanging out with the fam. Ah, I miss the East Coast so much!
When we go to Connecticut or New Jersey we just feel like we are coming home again. After spending a month away from our real home, we really missed Utah. It was so nice to be home and not eat your weight in delicious food. Nevertheless, we can’t wait to go back! What is your home away from home?
