Everyone’s kids just love cleaning up after themselves right? Any and every meal time is just the absolute worst time for me. The kids eat like 5 times a day, it takes a while to get everything ready, feed them, clean up and then you have to start all over again. Not to mention the messes created by the smallest of hands in the shortest of time. I don’t know how, but they manage to make a mess with even the simplest thing. Sometimes i would just leave the floor dirty until all meals were finished and they were tucked in bed with no chance of making any more messes. Other times I couldn’t stand the mess and I’d haul my ginormous vacuum out several times a day. But truth be told, I mostly just ignored it because who has that much time to clean anyway?? I’d like to “Stop cleaning. Start living” as BLACK+DECKER says.
I know as moms we just want to get things done quickly and painlessly. And that often means we do everything ourselves. Although the chores are getting done, we are just setting ourselves up for failure. Our kids need to learn basic life skills and they won’t if we don’t give them those opportunities. Trust me, I get it. I hate nagging my kids to help put stuff away but we found a way that works most of the time. We give them chores that they enjoy. We also give them a small payment for doing chores well and without complaining. We try to make it a game and everyone plays. And for the most part it works! And what makes it even easier is having the right tools as well as simple chores.
1. The first chore we have one of them do is to wipe the counters after each one has put their dirty dishes in the sink. We either give them a small rag or a non toxic wipe to use. Even the littlest one helps out.
2. Put dishes in the dishwasher. This one is simple enough we have our 3 yr old help. We obviously supervise and don’t let him wash anything fragile or dangerous.
3. Vacuum all the crumbs on the floor and on chairs. This is made simple by using the BLACK+DECKER Pivot Vac.
Let me tell you how great and how it is easily the best handheld vacuum. You fold it up and put it on the charger- it’s out of the way and it is virtually unseen because it is small.
My kids just life it out from the charger and press a button while extending the vacuum open. They switch it on and clean up everyday messes in a few minutes. It doesn’t have to be this huge chore anymore. You know once you haul your normal (and huge) vacuum you’ll just want to vacuum everything not just spots that are dirty. I would much rather make more time to play than clean! Plus my kids think it is the coolest thing and fight over who gets to clean up all the cereal on the floor. We team up, clean quickly and get to enjoy more of the lovely Utah spring.
Now when it is time for the grownups to use it we get a bit more detailed. We can get into tight spaces and for me I can vacuum up all the dust up on the shelf without getting a chair. Plus it has a little brush on the end to help with the dust. I’d much rather suck up all that dust into the vacuum then just spread it around with a dust cloth- I have really bad allergies! Next up, cleaning out our car from a road trip we just took on Monday. I’ve never been so excited to clean my car.
Now that I have convinced you guys about how awesome this hand held vac is and how everyone should have one I have something for one lucky person. I have a BLACK+DECKER Pivot Vac to give away! Good luck!
