I grew up in Connecticut where the leaves are a million shades of orange and yellow. Where people travel to specifically to see the beautiful fall foliage. I was spoiled and never realized it until I came to live in Utah. For some crazy reason, Utah’s Fall season is cut short by dumb snow storms in the mountains. We don’t have many trees unless you drive up to the mountains. And even then, like I said before, it is a short time to see the leaves turn those gorgeous shades. I was craving a fall drive.
I thought we had missed our time to see the foliage (my husband has been gone the past few weekends) so I dragged him out during the week before one of his classes. We went unprepared without water and snacks for the kids- big mistake. I did, however, find a box of Annie’s Snack Mix from a previous outing. That held the vultures over for a bit.
We drove up Hobble Creek Canyon and saw that in fact we did not miss the leaves changing colors. You have no idea what that meant to me! I felt like I was back home in New England.
We tried to take some family pictures… yikes.
If you ever drive in your swaggin’ wagon (only the coolest minivan) you’ll see that we are major music lovers. Our kids jam to the music all the time- it is pretty awesome and mostly hilarious. We cranked up our tunes and took in the majestic mountains and the overhanging trees. I believe there is probably a couple more weekends left to see the foliage so if you haven’t gone yet- GO! And while you are at it, here is a free CD sleeve printable reminiscent of Fall. Just put in your favorite playlist and take all that beauty in. Just FYI we got like 1 radio station up the canyon so that is why I recommend a CD. Or just plug in your phone to your car because that is cooler.
