DIY: GLITTER BOBBY PINS

DIY_glitterbobbypins_final-01
Tired of those boring old bobby pins? Me, too. Bobby pins make pinning my hair back super easy which is a must when I have grubby and messy little hands clawing at me all day. It really helps keep food out of my hair, unless my kids throw it, then there is no hope. Anyway, I wanted to spice up those little pins. I bring you: glitter bobby pins.
I was sent some fun craft supplies by American Crafts to play with and I went straight for the glitter glue. Helllooo!??! What could I NOT accessorize? Endless bling…yum. Ok, so this is what I did:

What you need:

  • Bobby Pins (I just used bobby pins I got at the dollar store.  I need to get them cheap because those things disappear like socks in a dryer.  They just vanish I tell you!)
  • Glitter Glue (gold, copper, platinum)
  • Clear Nail Polish
  • Extra scrap of paper

Take the bobby pins and slide them on the piece of paper.  You want them on here so they can dry on the paper.  Do not try to just hold them and try to place them on a table to dry.  It won’t work.  They will tip over and smear glitter goodness on your table.

DIY_glitterbobbypins_3Apply this glitter goodness starting under the tip.  I went back and did this after I took this pic.  Then continue until under the back as well.  **Apply this glue to the flat side of the pin, not the wavy side.  Why? Well, that is actually the side you see in your hair.  The wavy part is closest to your head because it holds your hair better. I know, mind blown right? Don’t believe me? Read this.

DIY_glitterbobbypins_5That’s right. Zazz ’em up!

DIY_glitterbobbypins_adelle DIY_glitterbobbypins_doneUgh. She is at that age where she just pulls off everything from her hair. I know you wanted to see me in these but she is so much cuter. Plus, I can’t take pics of myself. You’ll just have to trust me that they look cute. I would know because I am wearing them right now. And feelin’ cute.

Another reason why I am feeling cute: I have lost 4lbs. Now, before you all get all crazy on me, I know I am thin. I am also just 5′ so any extra weight I put on (ahem CT/NJ) is noticeable.  I am just trying to get back into shape and lose those extra pounds brought on by really bad eating habits and pure laziness. I am feeling happy! Thank you to LeanMoms for helping me get back into a good eating routine. I will tell you more about the program I am on on Wednesday.

    1. Thanks, Bonnie. They are also such a simple way to dress up your hair when you just throw it up in a pony or don’t really have time to do anything with your hair. Insta-glam! Haha
