As I was walking down the hall, I could hear my mom humming in the bathroom. The door was open so I peeked in and saw Madeleine sitting on the counter swinging her legs hitting the cabinets under her. She had a makeup brush in her hand and brushed it along her face haphazardly. She looked up at my mom and imitated my mom as she brushed her hair. My mother nostalgically shared that I used to do the same thing when I was Madeleine’s age. It was such a beautiful moment witnessing granddaughter and grandmother. The funny thing is that my mom doesn’t look like a grandmother.
She often would get mistaken for my sister and people still don’t believe she has a 32 year old daughter and is a grandmother. Great genes? Definitely. But for as long as I can remember, she always put on face creams. I’m pretty sure she even told me years ago that I should start taking care of my face even before things like wrinkles showed up. She advised me to prevent or diminish things that come with age but of course I was just too lazy to have a skin routine. I barely would wipe my face with the makeup remover wipes. I just felt “too young” to be worrying about my skin, wrinkles and age spots. But now, I kind of want to be just like my mom.
Truth is I should have listened to my mom. I should know by now that mom knows best. When I heard of the Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair I was excited to try it. I didn’t realize until I reallly looked at my skin that I saw the normal signs of aging. It happens. I’m okay with it. I could also see uneven tones in my skin from a summer out in the sun and sporting sunglasses. What I thought were big freckles I am thinking are the beginnings of age spots. After using Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair for the last 10 days, I have seen a difference in my skin. Here is my list of pros and cons for the day and night cream as well as Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Dark Spot Corrector.
This is my before shot. You can see a bit of discoloration on my nose, around my lips and under my eyes. That’s just motherhood though.
My skin as a whole is brighter and not as dull. It also feels dewier but not oily.
The different tones due to the sun have diminished although they weren’t super visible in the first place.
My skin is smoother, especially my cheeks.
Love feeling the tingling sensation- means it is working right?
I didn’t experience any flaking or redness.
Slight fragrance which I usually don’t like since I’m allergic to perfumes but this one doesn’t bother me.
Price point: You can get the whole set for about $45 from Amazon. This is a pretty nice product for that price. This could probably last me about 8 weeks. It’s a great investment.
It isn’t a miracle worker- meaning that it didn’t just remove the age spots. In fact, the “age spots” may be freckles. A trip to the dermatologist and/facial spa may solve that question.
I was hoping the creams would help with my dark under eye circles and around my lips but that may not be in the realm of “tone repair.” Perhaps more sleep would help. Ha!
So moral of the story- listen to your mothers. And take care of your skin. It’s the only one we get.
